It may come as a shock to some of you; but, Electroshock machines have never been tested for safety or efficacy. Electroshock machines were "grandfathered" into the system when the FDA assumed jurisdiction over medical devices in 1976.
In 1990, Congress ordered the FDA to have shock machines tested. Both ECT manufacturers and the closely knit shock advocates--most of who have significant financial interests in ECT--vehemently opposed safety tests. The agency went along with the vested stakeholders and failed to comply with the congressional order.
Electroshock--unlike other medical devices--is most often forced on non-consenting patients such as, Ray Sandford of Minneapolis. Ray, who is 54, has been subjected to 40 shock treatments against his will by court order!! Though Sandford is not charged with any crime , he has received over 40 such rounds of shocks on an outpatient basis so far--even after his original mental problems have long since subsided and he has repeatedly asked for the shocks to stop. Is it civilized to force a human being to undergo brain damaging electroshock as punishment ? What, if any crime has Ray Sanford committed?
The Wall Street Journal reports that the Government Accountability Office criticized FDA's delay in January. So, this week the FDA ordered the makers of 25 different types of medical devices marketed before 1976, to submit safety and effectiveness data within 120 days. Electroconvulsive therapy devices are included.

In just two days, Ray is scheduled to be woken up early in his basement room in a group home in a quiet residential neighborhood just north of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Against his will, Ray will be escorted the 15 miles north to Mercy Hospital, put under anesthesia, and given another involuntary,outpatient electroshock, also known as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
Ray's has had more than 40 of these court-ordered electroshocks to his brain. No end is in sight.
By a rotten coincidence, this next forced electroshock is on USA Tax Day, Wednesday, 15 April 2009.
So especially during these next 48 hours please *act* on Ray's Web of Link$!

I say it's time to peacefully throw some tea into the harbor.

I'm for free speech and all, but this was a little over the top even for this blog. {that's means it was pretty damned rambling}

The vast majority of website operators don't have the guts to allow this post, anything like it, any searchable lines, or links. They have been deleted more than 90% of the time. The vast majority of syndicated talk radio hosts are screening their calls and won't allow this topic. The vast majority of callers don't have a clue. We are in big trouble. The truth is so Earth shattering, that no public figure has the guts to acknowledge it. Very few have the guts to allow a statement anything like this in their forum. The truth is being suppressed. We are in much more serious trouble than we have been told by any public figure. Don't be fooled by fluctuating economic indicators or short term market stability. The entire foundation of our economy is crumbling. Get ready people. Get your affairs in order. Get your households in order. Get your communities in order. Be prepared. This is no 'correction'. I know a man who had electroshock treatments. He was so convinced that it worked that he tried to solicite some people (including me) to help him build his own elctroshock machine. This sounds like a comment in support of EST but it's not. This poor man was so screwed up from years and years of being over medicated, over analyzed, prodded and poked that at the same time that he was trying to build his EST machine, he was, also, going door to door begging for 8 track tapes. 8 TRACK TAPES!

Dr.Peter Breggin,the dangers of ECT:
"Animal studies show diffuse brain damage following ECT: the most common findings are petechial or pinpoint hemorrhages throughout the brain and surrounding blood vessels, as well as areas of gliosis and neuronal degeneration, with patches of cell death (ghost cells and neuronophagia). Occasionally larger hemorrhages and edema of the brain are found. These findings are also seen on human autopsies performed on ECT patients."
