SO MUCH TRUTH - SPOKEN IN JEST

Since great satire does actually mirror the real world in many instances; I thought I would share this wonderful piece posted over at pharmagossip here on this blog.

"SO MUCH TRUTH, SPOKEN IN JEST"

Johnny B. Sinister, the American-born boss of global pharmaceutical giant Phoni Pharm. Inc., told the CBI conference that it is not just bankers who need to reform. He said: "If we fail to change things will not be pretty. And if you think you're exempt, you're wrong.”

Mr. Sinister, whose company recently paid a $1.8bn (£1.1bn) fine to the US government in September for misleading sales advice on one of its drugs, said, "People have had enough and the backlash is real."

“The public is tired of huge global companies like us regarding massive corporate malfeasance fines as a cost of business, and then just carrying on breaking the law,” he said.

“They’re also tired of our price gouging. They’ve had enough of our lying about and hiding clinical data, just so we can get drugs of dubious benefit onto the market. They’ve had enough of us buying doctors and politicians to maintain the status quo and crush any chance of healthcare reform. They’ve had enough of executives like me, who are paid seven figure salaries for selling off the first world’s intellectual silverware to the Far East for the short term financial gain of themselves and their backers. And they’re fed up with the massive lay-offs and the resultant social costs that these off-shoring strategies and “slash and burn” mergers and takeovers are causing.”

“But we don’t really care”, Sinister admitted. “The public also knows that we’ll just carry on doing whatever we want anyway, because we are too big to be allowed to fail or to be stopped.”

The next speaker emphasized that the banking world agreed with Mr. Sinister’s perception of public antipathy.

“Greed is good,” said RBS’s Gordon Gecko (no relation), to a cheering audience, as he trousered a $100 million dollar bonus paid for out of public bail-out money...

I suppose it's predictable, really: we've ended up laughing at the fuckers, because there is no other sane response (none that keeps us sane, anyway). Still, they've got it wrong ("no shit, Sherlock," I hear you say); it's not the political or financial backing that makes them strong...

Their real powerbase is the patients. As long as the patients believe that the drugs are their only hope, then the pharmaceutical industry is free to regard people like us as an irritant to be monitored, and nothing more. But if the patients were to stop believing that, because they find something that works better...

I personally believe patients are neither their true power base or are beholding to this false belief system that's in play here.

It's more of an refined Indoctrination, manipulation of truth, and then a forced compliance/addiction scenario.

Of course when you have all the money, power, marketing, media, reglitory bodies, government, and an established & ingrained modality in place that walk in lock step; this illusion and trick really is just that much easier to pull off.

Drawing in naive' followers looking for quick fixes and easy answers isn't that difficult considering the incentives of this very lucrative, institutionally created, and well oiled business model "cult". (If you control the deck of cards, the dealer, and the games that are played; then dealing your self the winning hand over and over again isn't really rocket science per say)

False belief system are changed through constant exposure of dubious behaviors and deeds, beating the drum of vital information, supplying streams of proper knowledge, and holding those responsible for these crimes accountable.

In this case the accountability runs from Wall Street, down Pennsylvania Ave, across vast oceans, through world capitals, and right down main street to your doctors front door.

I hope we have not regressed to the point in our society where the victims are considered guilty by association for the criminal violators actions.

Which ever way or means suffices as an avenue; be it humor, satire, hard nose exposes', insider whistle blowing, investigative news, testimonials and tragedies, blogs and news outlets; it all gives us small pieces of a huge puzzle that may finally be taking on a visible and recognizable image after years of toil and efforts.

As this true picture takes form; hopefully the public finally takes notice and heed; giving us some fertile ground where attitudes and opinions are both shaped and changed.

Stan: The system doesn't work. When on complains at the absence of anything approximating effectiveness, everybody averts their eyes, and sits on their hands, if you'll excuse the mixed metaphor. This suggests to me that what is happening at the moment is intended to happen, and that it is in somebody's interests that it should happen. If this is so, then we could speculate that the Establishment is in some kind of mutually-satisfying collusion, where the only fallout is borne by, in this case, mental health patients. It's not possible to prove, because the one doing the investigating/prosecuting is the Establishment - and it's not likely to find itself guilty of anything. It also holds all the information, and is unlikely to allow anybody else access to anything incriminating.

So, back to the starting point: the system doesn't work, and it's the Establishment's system. Where is it written that we must acknowledge their system as the one that we should operate within? It doesn't work for us - why should we even acknowledge that their system exists, at all? I've decided that everybody, from my MP up, is a figment of my imagination - they've done their best to ignore me; although, given that they don't exist, it would have been difficult for them to respond, anyway!

As for the general public - I've spoken to enough "ordinary, decent" people to know that they'd rather not know what was going on, from our perspective. So they don't exist, either.

Nope, it's just me, and whoever is stupid enough to try to force their way into my world, uninvited. No more Mr Fucking Nice Guy!..
