One of the few organizations that actually advocates for patients and their protection has been hacked. I personally hope their site is back up and running very soon. I won't point any fingers directly at who maybe behind this site shut down; but I'm sure there are many out there including "Big Pharma" that would like to keep the eye opening information they provide under wraps and hidden away from the public view.

I have linked to Alliance for Human Research Protection on many occasions, and they richly deserve the blogging community's support and encouragement.

The person or persons claiming responsibility for this criminal site shut down is "Hacked By ViciOuS"

I had to do some research, but I believe I have found a picture that may show a striking resemblance to these moron perpetrators either at the top of this post or here above.

Pharmalot by way of the "Wall Street Journal" has posted a great article about AstraZeneca and their CEO Dave Brennan out on the damage control trail stumping their tainted "we will do better after we finish counting the money; and we promise with the double dare fingers crossed" message. Once again I have interjected my honest personal commentary and opinion in purple colored font within the article.

AstraZeneca Is More Sensitive about illegal marketing

All those big fines are prompting some drug makers to say they’ve found religion.

Of course that religion really hasn't changed much, since in the "church of corporation" Money is the God, and other lesser God's like ethical behavior, moral responsibility, caring for your fellow man, not coveting your brothers wife, etc.... are not quite part of the corporate ten commandments shall we say.

For instance, Pfizer ceo Jeff Kindler recently gave a speech about corporate trust (watch it here).

Now, AstraZeneca’s Dave Brennan confesses that his company is “more sensitive than we’ve ever been” about preventing illegal promotion of their drugs ever since it paid a $520 million to settle a US probe marketing of its Seroquel schizophrenia med.

More sensitive to what exactly Mr. Brennan? Using children as Ginny pigs, targeting the poor and foster children, more sensitive to the drugging assault upon the elderly, paying corrupt and evil doctor's to promote your dangerous chemicals at the tune of $500,000 a pop.

So what do you mean by "more sensitive"? That AZ is going to continue to market their dangerous drugs aggressively spending $$billions$$ on slick marketing ads, that AZ will continue to pay the government hand slap criminal penalties as just part of doing business, That AZ will continue to spend a billion dollars plus attempting to deny those they have injured by their unsafe drugs any reasonable compensation, that AZ will continue to get the corrupt FDA to rubber stamp your profitable anti-psychotic drug for everything under the sun and great blue sky; so there is no reason left to do the under the table off label marketing crimes. That AZ will continue to spend like a drunken sailor lobbying government elected representatives to green light their business as usual criminal practices.

Off-label marketing has become “a much bigger issue in the last few years as a result of the government’s position on this,” he tells The Wall Street Journal. “If you go back ten years in this industry, this was not an issue. I mean, we trained our people not to promote off-label…so it’s always been sensitive. But now, it’s even more sensitive because we’re paying fines.” The fine, by the way, was $520 million. Last year, Seroquel generated $4.5 billion in revenue.

"I mean, we trained our people not to promote off-label" Oh really, that's why we see exactly the opposite in the many buried and leaked internal documents within your Lilly white and purified corporation.

I must ask if you are just in a completely psychotic delusional state, or just one huge blatant liar? I actually thought you paid "Tony Jewell" the huge dollars to be your cover up spin doctor.

What was the latest sweetheart deal you made with the DOJ (department of justice) "The fine, by the way, was estimated @ $520 million". Though the final details of this sweetheart deal are still unknown to the public.

The drugmaker faces numerous lawsuits over its Seroquel marketing and documents released by plaintiffs attorneys allegedly showed AstraZeneca execs discussed broadening the market to include adolescents and patients with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, and at medical meetings, in sales calls and with patient-advocacy groups, the Journal writes.

The goal of an AstraZeneca public-relations plan from 2001 was to “encourage and support…use outside schizophrenia into a broad range of other patient populations including bipolar disorder and the elderly.” It also said there needed to be “aggressive market penetration” among adolescents, the elderly and patients with bipolar disorder for Seroquel to outsell rival meds. The FDA didn’t approve the pill for bipolar disorder until 2006, the Journal reminds us.

Jeez, this certainly sounds like you are living in a state of denial Mr. Brennan. I gather a 2.5 million $$dollar$$ a year salary with added perks and a golden parachute attached can do that to even the most ardent executive moralist after all.

In response, Brennan tells the Journal: “There were a wide variety of documents. Stuff that said we don’t promote off-label. Others that said different things. You know, that’s just the nature of how business runs over ten or twenty years. There’s millions of documents floating around. I don’t have any particular comment” on individual documents.

I would have to say there are probably millions of other damning documents and evidence that were floating around that AZ was able to shred, suppress, bury, or make disappear like magic. Come on now, AZ has no moral or ethical obligation to their fellow human beings; it's just the nature of this nasty profitable business.

Big Pharma (AstraZeneca) paid $500,000 to Chicago psychiatrists who used children as guinea pigs

(NaturalNews) A federal lawsuit has been filed against pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca for its role in paying Chicago psychiatrist Dr. Michael Reinstein nearly $500,000 over the course of a decade to conduct research and to promote its anti-psychotic drug, Seroquel. Reinstein is being accused of wrongfully preying on thousands of mentally-ill patients in order to rake in profits for AstraZeneca.

Reinstein has a long history of working with AstraZeneca, receiving regular payments for speeches he would make across the country promoting the drug. AstraZeneca was also paying a for-profit research company, Uptown Research Institute, who in turn was paying Reinstein consulting fees for his services.

Cited in the lawsuit was the fact that Reinstein would continually prescribe roughly double the amount of drugs other psychiatrists would prescribe for the same conditions. When patients would report their pain and suffering due to the tremendous side effects of such drugs and their abnormally high dosages, Reinstein would largely ignore their concerns.

Other accusations include illegitimately prescribing Seroquel for various other conditions, including losing weight, despite the fact that studies show the drug actually causes weight gain. Reinstein was found to have made numerous false claims about Seroquel in promotional material, claims that would result in the destruction of people's lives and health.

When all was said and done, more than 1,000 patients a year received Seroquel prescriptions from Reinstein at a cost of $7.6 million to taxpayers. It is unknown how many billions of dollars AstraZeneca has made from the widespread efforts of Reinstein in promoting the drug nationwide for all those years.

Despite all of his wrongdoings, Reinstein is not even a defendant in the case. AstraZeneca, the perpetrator which funded Reinstein, is the defendant in the lawsuit. While both Reinstein and AstraZeneca appear guilty of unethical and illegal behavior, AstraZeneca is rightfully bearing the brunt as it knowingly continued to fund Reinstein and rake in the profits of his misconduct.

The case brings up an important issue that plagues the pharmaceutical industry. The pharmaceutical money trail is never transparent, leading to questionable study results and improper marketing tactics. There is no accountability in the drug sector and this entire segment of the economy seems to be driven by deception and greed. Until people begin to demand restitution, the corruption will continue.

In November, a federal judge recommended that as many as 6,000 lawsuits against drug giant AstraZeneca for the ill effects of the company’s anti-psychotic Seroquel should be returned to their home state courts for trial. Seroquel, the company’s second-best selling drug with annual sales of $4.45 billion, is notorious for the company’s cover-up of data from clinical trials showing potentially harmful effects from the drug, including diabetes, weight gain, stroke and death.
Just days before the judge’s order, an independent review commissioned by the British government found severe side effects, including stroke and death, suffered by people with dementia when taking Seroquel and other anti-psychotics. In response to the report, the UK government stated, “There is inevitably an element of risk with the prescribing of any medication. However, there is clear evidence that anti-psychotic drugs are currently being over prescribed, when alternative non-pharmacological approaches to dealing with anxiety and behavioural problems are available and should be used.” The report found that only about 20% of dementia patients prescribed antipsychotics receive any benefit from the risky drugs.
A recent Chicago Tribune report found that Illinois nursing homes were cited for thousands of cases in which elderly residents who exhibited no symptoms of psychosis were improperly dosed with Seroquel and other antipsychotics. AstraZeneca paid one Chicago-area psychiatrist nearly $500,000 over a decade for establishing a customer base of thousands of indigent, mentally ill residents in Chicago-area nursing homes.

The litigation against AstraZeneca has exposed a litany of company misdeeds around Seroquel:
AstraZeneca covered-up knowledge that use of Seroquel could lead to severe weight gain and diabetes. A New York Times report noted the company’s fraudulent interpretation of studies to minimize the risk began as early as 1997, and noted a 1999 email from a company executive who asked, “…how do we face the outside world when they begin to criticize us for suppressing data.” One expert has stated that the risk of diabetes for people on Seroquel is 70 percent greater than for the general population.

AstraZeneca engaged in illegal off-label promotions of Seroquel, and company documents suggest that questionable marketing was approved at the highest levels. In one off-label scheme, sales staff were told to use Winnie-the-Pooh characters (Tigger as bipolar, Eeyore as depressed) in order to market the psychiatric drug for pediatric patients. As the New York Times noted, “As a result of aggressive marketing, Seroquel has been increasingly used for children and elderly people for indications not approved by the Food and Drug Administration.” Also, a company employee appears to have altered the wikipedia entry for Seroquel, deleting a National Institute of Health warning that teens taking the drug could be prone to suicide. In late October, the company paid $520 million to settle two lawsuits and two federal investigations of illegal promotions of Seroquel.

AstraZeneca covered-up a company study showing that Seroquel performed worse than several other drugs; two months after the company learned of the study findings, a doctor paid by the company presented the data at a medical conference as showing Seroquel to be “more effective” than the other drugs.

The company’s medical director for Seroquel admitted to lawyers in 2007 that he had numerous sexual relationships with women involved in clinical research on the drug, and traded sex for trade secrets.
The recent problems are only the latest in a string of AstraZeneca misdeeds. AstraZeneca was one of three drug makers found guilty in 2008 of defrauding Medicare by overcharging for drugs and encouraging doctors to prescribe their products over competitors through pricing that rewarded the physicians for prescribing certain drugs. Former NewEngland Journal of Medicine editor Marcia Angell has charged that the company’s clinical trials of its top-selling drug Nexium were rigged to show greater efficacy than a cheaper competing product. In 1996, a Business Week cover story exposed “dozens of cases” of women who accused then-CEO of Astra USA Lars Bildman and other top executives with sexual harassment. One male sales manager told the magazine, “If ever there was a company where sexual harassment was rampant, this is it.”

Flu Vaccine Fraud: WHO 'Mr Flu' Under Investigation For Gross Conflicts of Interest

One after another of the recently proclaimed Flu “pandemics” has turned out to be a fraudulent marketing hoax to promote flu vaccines.

Each hoax was cooked up by Big Pharma and their paid, highly placed scientists who have penetrated both national and international health organizations.
Nationally and internationally, healthcare policies are being shaped by those who have gross conflicts of interest. Vaccines are being promoted (even mandated) in the absence of scientific evidence to support mass vaccinations.

Last month, CBS investigative reporter, Sharyl Attkisson, blew the lid on the swine flu pandemic hoax and the US Center for Disease. ee her two part interview with Dr. Mercola:

CBS News and the CDC contradict each other completely.

In her three-month U.S. investigation that included state-by-state flu test results, Attkisson uncovered facts that contradict the Centers for Disease Control policy statements:

CBS News Finds H1N1 Tests were "Overwhelmingly Negative."Indeed, H1N1 flu cases are NOT as prevalent as feared:

"If you've been diagnosed "probable" or "presumed" 2009 H1N1 or "swine flu" in recent months, you may be surprised to know this: odds are you didn't have H1N1 flu. In fact, you probably didn't have flu at all."

For example, Attkisson discovered that:

* In Florida, 83% of specimens that were presumed to be swine flu were negative for all flu when tested!
* In California, 86% of suspected H1N1 specimens were not swine flu or any flu; only 2% were confirmed swine flu.
* In Alaska, 93% of suspected swine flu specimens were negative for all flu types; only 1 percent was H1N1 flu.

CBS reports that in late July 2009 the CDC advised states to STOP testing for H1N1 flu, and they also stopped counting individual cases. Their rationale for this, according to CBS News, was that it was a waste of resources to test for H1N1 flu because it was already confirmed as an epidemic.

What evidence of an epidemic?

"of the vast majority of the presumed swine flu cases recognized by trained physicians, the vast majority were not flu at all. They weren’t swine flu or regular flu; they were some other sort of upper respiratory infection.” That is what the CDC doesn’t want the American public to know.

“The CDC explained that one of the reasons they quit counting was because of all the flu that’s out there, most are swine flu. Well, that’s true. Most of the flu that was out there was indeed swine flu, but they failed to say that most of the suspected flu was nothing at all. And I think that’s the caveat the public just didn’t know,” Attkisson explains.

Especially disturbing is the stonewalling and obfuscation by the Obama Administration:
Attkisson says, "This may be the first time I was denied that expedited processing from Freedom of Information that we’re entitled to as members of the press; a letter from HHS or Health and Human Services (the CDC is under HHS) said to me that one of the reasons they’re denying my expedited processing is because this is not a matter of “widespread and exceptional media or public interest.”

In other words, even as the President declared the swine flu a "national public health emergency" the CDC doesn’t think that questions about swine flu prevalence "are a matter of widespread and exceptional media or public interest...”

As is the case genrally in healthcare fraud, conflicts of interest are rampant in the vaccination infrastructure. CBS reported that:

"The same people who are regulating and promoting vaccines are also evaluating vaccine safety. For instance, Dr. Paul Offit of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia earned at least $29 million as part of a $182-million sale by the hospital of its worldwide royalty interest in the Merck Rotateq vaccine. He also formerly sat on the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) to help create the market for rotavirus vaccine"

A riveting, insightful article, by F. William Engdahl , author of “Full Spectrum Dominance: Totalitarian Democracy in the New World Order,” documents how gross conflicts of interest have corrupted the World Health Organization and international vaccine policy. The article is posted the website of Financial Sense Editorials, (which is geared toward investors).

This well documented article sheds light on how a well positioned Dutch scientist and the World Health Organization helped Big Pharma (or as Engdahl refers to it, “the Pharma mafia”) generate a global hysteria about the avian flu and the swine flu—in order to generate a demand for flu vaccines.

“The man with the nickname “Dr Flu”, Professor Albert Osterhaus, of the Erasmus University in Rotterdam Holland has been named by Dutch media researchers as the person at the center of the worldwide Swine Flu H1N1 Influenza A 2009 pandemic hysteria. Not only is Osterhaus the connecting person in an international network that has been described as the Pharma Mafia, he is THE key advisor to WHO on influenza and is intimately positioned to personally profit from the billions of euros in vaccines allegedly aimed at H1N1.”

“More careful investigation into the Osterhaus Affair suggests that the world-renowned Dutch Virologist may be at the very center of a multi-billion Euro pandemic fraud which has used human beings in effect as human guinea pigs with untested vaccines and in cases now emerging resulting in deaths or severe bodily paralysis or injury. “

Privatization (i.e., Big Pharma influence) has corrupted the World Health Organization:

“In the past decade the WHO, in order to boost funds at its disposal entered into what it calls “public private partnerships.” Instead of receiving its funds solely from member United Nations governments as its original purpose had been, WHO today receives almost double its normal UN budget in the form of grants and financial support from private industry. The industry? The very drug and vaccine makers who benefit from decisions like the June 2009 H1N1 Pandemic emergency declaration. As the main financiers of the WHO bureaucracy, naturally the Pharma Mafia and their friends receive what has been called “open door red carpet treatment” in Geneva."17

The ‘Bird Shit Hoax’

“Albert Osterhaus is no small fish. He stands at the global nexus of every major virus panic of the past two decades from the mysterious SARS deaths in HongKong, where current WHO Director Margaret Chan got her start in her career as a local health official. According to his official bio at the European Commission, Osterhaus was engaged in April 2003, at the height of the panic over SARS (Severe Acquired Respiratory Syndrome) in Hong Kong. The EU report states, “he again showed his skill at moving fast to tackle a serious problem. Within three weeks he had proved that the disease was caused by a newly discovered coronavirus that resides in civet cats, other carnivorous animals or bats.” 5

“Then Osterhaus moved on, this time publicizing dangers of what he claimed was H5N1 Avian Flu. In 1997 he already began sounding the alarm following the death in Hong Kong of a three-year-old who Osterhaus learned had had direct contact with birds. Osterhaus went into high gear lobbying across Holland and Europe claiming that a deadly new mutation of avian flu had jumped to humans and that drastic measures were required. He claimed to be the first scientist in the world to show that H5N1 could be transferred into humans.” 6

It never did manage to mutate, but, as Engdahl points out, Dr. Osterhaus was ready to “do the experiments,” presumably for a hefty fee.

The corruption of the WHO became most apparent when it declared the swine flu (H1N1) a pandemic emergency without a shred of substantiating evidence.

“When no mass wave of human deaths from Avian Flu materialized and after Roche, maker of Tamiflu and GlaxoSmithKline had banked billions of dollars in profits from worldwide government stockpiling of their dangerous and reportedly ineffective antiviral drugs, Tamiflu by Roche, and Relenza by GlaxoSmithKline, Osterhaus and other WHO advisers turned to other greener pastures.

By April 2009 their search seemed rewarded as a small Mexican village in Veracruz reported a case of a small child ill with what had been diagnosed as “Swine Flu” or H1N1. With indecent haste the propaganda apparatus of the World Health Organization in Geneva went into gear anth statements from the director-general Dr Margaret Chan, about a possible danger of a global pandemic. Chan made such irresponsible statements as declaring “a public health emergency of international concern.” 12

"In an interview with Der Spiegel magazine in Germany, epidemiologist Dr. Tom Jefferson of the Cochrane Collaboration, an organization of independent scientists evaluating all flu related studies, noted the implications of the privatization of WHO and the commercialization of health:

“…one of the extraordinary features of this influenza -- and the whole influenza saga -- is that there are some people who make predictions year after year, and they get worse and worse. None of them so far have come about, and these people are still there making these predictions. For example, what happened with the bird flu, which was supposed to kill us all? Nothing. But that doesn't stop these people from always making their predictions. Sometimes you get the feeling that there is a whole industry almost waiting for a pandemic to occur.”

SPIEGEL: Who do you mean? The World Health Organization (WHO)?

Jefferson: The WHO and public health officials, virologists and the pharmaceutical companies. They've built this machine around the impending pandemic. And there's a lot of money involved, and influence, and careers, and entire institutions! And all it took was one of these influenza viruses to mutate to start the machine grinding...18

When asked if the WHO had deliberately declared the Pandemic Emergency in order to create a huge market for H1N1 vaccines and drugs, Jefferson replied, “Don't you think there's something noteworthy about the fact that the WHO has changed its definition of pandemic? The old definition was a new virus, which went around quickly, for which you didn't have immunity, and which created a high morbidity and mortality rate. Now the last two have been dropped, and that's how swine flu has been categorized as a pandemic.”19

They have asked the court to rule as a remedy to the infringement upon their own profitable fantasy; that all prior or aforementioned stated believers of the "Big Jolly Fat Guy" be force medicated with their " Pharma's" expensive products until all neuron growth and happy states subside completely.

It appears by this poster rumored to be found displayed at a local bus stop: a large Pro Pharma/anti-Santa/Pro Drugs marketing campaign is off to quite a cheery and successful seasonal start.

As a legal basis for this case and remedy; it was stated and presented in documentation before the Court; that the "Big Jolly Fat Guy" blatantly violated their profitable patents, strangle hold on believers, and illegally subverted their marketing efforts related to this important unscientific and marketing matter.

Backing up their contentions was the damning submission of evidence that the "Big Jolly Fat Guy" had not payed off important researchers/officials, or published the proper ghost written research papers to prominent "Fantasy Professional Journey's"; then further evidence submitted stated the "Big Jolly Fat Guy" with calculated forth-thought and cruel intended actions bypassed the usual corrupt authorities at the FDA for government rubber stamp approval.

It has been Estimated that Big Pharma has already spent over 650 million dollars in legal expenses to date on this matter. Pharma Public Relations spokes persons were quoted as saying;

"we will spend whatever it takes to protect our ingrained and accepted modality; including our profits and market share from all other forces and intruders in this vitally important fantasy belief area".

They were also heard off the record as saying:

"We have a stated unbridled claim to this very lucrative and profitable childhood market, and we'll be damned if some Jolly Fat Guy dressed up in a red suit in going slip down our chimney's monopoly" .

On Wall-street, Pharma stock shares rose an average of 3.6% across the board; based on Breaking News of a soon to be released verdict in this case.

A final ruling from the court is expected by Dec. 24, 2009.
