AstraZeneca Seroquel - reports of 5500 lawsuits settled in principle for $55 million - More back room smoke and mirrors

AstraZeneca - Seroquel - reports of 5500 lawsuits settled in principle for $55 million That is roughly ten thousand dollars per claim - If the glove fits?

So let's take a serious look at this supposed settlement AstraZeneca's billion dollar legal team has tossed across the table like it was throwing spare change toward beggars. If you happen to have been permanently injured from the drug Seroquel with conditions such as pancreatitis and diabetes your settlement after a your lawyer takes his bounty 40%, would be around $6000. Can you imagine having to find medical care and treatment for a life long injury for 6000 dollars. Maybe we should be asking those lawyers quick to settle claims for their clients; what's a year, maybe five years, or a decade of their lifetime taken away worth to them?

Bloomberg news update:http://lnk.ms/9wrLS

"Among the lawyers representing Seroquel users who resolved their cases are Steven J. Skikos of San Francisco and Michael J. Miller, an Alexandria, Virginia-based litigator, the people said.

Neither returned calls for comment on the settlements. Michael Kelly, AstraZeneca’s lead lawyer in the mediation, didn’t return calls for comment."

---------------------------------

So let's speculate that one of these referred to law firms above have 5000 case they are representing. They would in reality receive 40% of 50 million dollars. Not a bad pay day, while leaving your client's hanging out to dry with permanent life long injuries.

Just like with the shady backroom DOJ settlement AstraZeneca has once more appeared to pull out all their political favor cards, flexed their 36 billion+ a year profits, and decided they will never admit wrong doing even if that damaging and smoking gun bloody glove does fit.

Here are just a few of my past post regarding AstraZeneca, Seroquel, and their dirty little profits at any cost business as usual model:

If I were to offer any advice to those permanently injured by AstraZeneca's Seroquel; I would tell them to refuse this settlement (specially if these numbers are actually accurate) and use those words "Dispute & Arbitrate", as they are out searching for a new law firm to represent them.

Each claim deserves their day in court to be judged on it's merits before a jury of their peers. Each person injured by this drug that was marketed off label and had side effects buried should receive actual justice.

Update:

So those reading this post don't fall into the abyss of doom and gloom; I will just add this little news that should brighten your day former Seroquel users. If getting screwed by your government and lawyers wasn't bad enough.....you might want to watch Fido closely in the future....

Diabetes Diagnosis for Jerry Douthett: Dog Ate Toe

Douthett was alerted to the seriousness of a bone infection in his foot, resulting from previously undiagnosed Type II diabetes, when his terrier Kiko bit off his big toe while he was passed out drunk, according to The Grand Rapids Press.

Jeez, what a surprise to see one of my most ardent fans back reading this post.

What more can I say? Maybe a little song? "Devil with the blue dress, devil with the blue, devil with the blue dress on"

Shall we dance now?

If you contracted Diabetes Disease by ingesting Antipsychotic Medication named Seroquel manufactured by ASTRA ZENECA within the last 4 or 5 years, and if you do not currently have a lawsuit, read this:

In 2009, ASTRA ZENECA was found guilty for lying and various charges by The United States Department of Justice.

In 2010, they finally admitted that Seroquel caused Diabetes. These pages are in the New York Times, Washington Post, and all the major newspapers in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. (see the eHow by Sandy Keefe)

Find these articles, get your hospital records, and go file a Criminal Complaint with the State Attorney General, Martha Coakley.
One Ashburn Place, 19th Floor and ask to speak with someone. Show them your diagnosis and tell them about your pain and suffering. Tell the Attorney General's Office that you want to be financially compensated starting with a six digit number. It is your constitutional right.

1. Negligence for failure to adequately and properly test and inspect.
2. Failure to implement a reasonably safe design (of Seroquel)
3. Failure to manufacture the drug in a safe condition.
4. Failure to warn of Seroquel's risks of complications and disease.
5. Deceptive marketing tactics
6. Manufacture of a prescription drug which constituted a hazard to health and causes adverse side effects.
7. Sale of a prescription drug which constituted a hazard to health and causes adverse side effects.
8. Distribution of a prescription drug which constituted a hazard to health and causes adverse side effects.
